PHOTO ESSAY - A Walkthrough on Shiwan Antiques

Shiwan is a form of Chinese pottery. The peculiarity of the Shiwan wear lies with the kind of clay used. It enables the sculptors to mimic real and lifelike appearances. These pieces are some of the 200 pieces on display at Mr Ng Seng Leong’s exhibition in his home at Lengkong Dua. These one of a kind pieces reflects a different emotion and tells a different story on history.

Chingay, a parade that was held as a result of the ban of the firecrackers back in 1973, has evolved into a bright and colourful parade. Incorporating performances from all the races here in Singapore, the theme for this year’s parade was Lights of Legacy.

Scholars from Vietnam’s University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) and Republic Polytechnic’s (RP) School of Applied Science (SAS) bonded over life’s vital resource - water. The students learnt more about how Singapore developed a sustainable water supply during the three-week long Temasek Foundation International Specialists’ Community Action & Leadership Exchange Programme hosted by RP.
