PHOTO ESSAY

A Walkthrough Shiwan Antiques

By: Marcus Leong and Mohamad Firman Bin Nordin

Shiwan is a form of Chinese pottery. The peculiarity of the Shiwan wear lies with the kind of clay used. It enables the sculptors to mimic real and lifelike appearances. These pieces are some of the 200 pieces on display at Mr Ng Seng Leong’s exhibition in his home at Lengkong Dua. These one of a kind pieces reflects a different emotion and tells a different story on history.

Project Description:

This Project was an Industry collaboration with The New Paper for our module M350 Media Practicum (Journalism). I worked with a team of 4 other members to produce a news package with 4 news stories, 1 photo essay and a 2 min video. Our chosen topic was to find out whether old antique shops are recession proof and the importance of preserving our culture. We also had to do social media postings to publicise our individual stories.
